Welcome! It is with great excitement that we invite you to the 2026 Mead Family Reunion. In 2005, Meads from across the country gathered for the first Mead Family Reunion, commemorating a century since the Chapel‘s groundbreaking.

Now, in 2026, the Board of Trustees of Mead Memorial Chapel is honored to host the second Mead Family Reunion, and we would love for you to be part of this special occasion. RSVP using our Google form.

Reunion Weekend Highlights

  • Friday: Earlybird registration at Waccabuc Country Club. Join us for an informal drinks celebration.
  • Saturday: Luncheon at the Waccabuc Country Club, followed by group activities, dinner, and a special presentation.
  • Sunday: A commemorative service at Mead Memorial Chapel to honor our family‘s legacy.

The Mead Memorial Chapel can be used for weddings, christenings and secular events.

Decisions about which events can take place in the chapel are made by the chapel's Board of Trustees. If you have an event, or would like to use the chapel for any purpose, you may submit your request in writing. Please use the contact form to send an email to the Chair of the Board.

A Brief History

Our family heritage had its beginnings in 1776 when Enoch Mead of Greenwich, Connecticut, with his bride, Jemima, discovered Long Pond, on their horseback wedding trip. They fell in love with the rolling, wooded land, not long before an Indian hunting ground, and later acquired a large tract around the lake, now called Waccabuc. Read more on our genealogy website »

A Short Biography

Sarah Frances Studwell was born on February 6th 1838 to John Jay Studwell and Elizabeth LaFarge Moore, who were married on September 18, 1836. She was named for her father's only sister, Sarah, but was called by her full name of Sarah Frances by her parents. Read on our genealogy website »
