  !DATA BASE: Barent Jacobzen Kool was born in Holland about 1610 and first appeared in America in 1633, in the service of the West India Company at New Amsterdam. He married in Flushing about 1637, Marretje Leenderts, daughter of Leendert and Leuntie Alberts (Leydecker) de Grauw. Leendert Arentzen de Grauw was a member of an early Walloon family, and came to New Amsterdam from Holland in 1638, in the ship "Dolphin," after a stormy voyage. All of Barent and Marretje's children were born in New Amsterdam.
